Reports just reaching us have it that Justice R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja has withdrawn from the Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s case. According to Nigerian Bulletin, Mohammed handed over the case to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mahmud Mohammed, to reassign the case to another judge. Meanwhile, reports have it that the Nigerian senate is yet to receive the ministerial list from President Muhammadu Buhari, who had reiterated his desire to make the list public in September. Recall also that the Nigerian president opened up on Saraki’s case, stating that he awaits the outcome of the trial to know if he shall still show confidence in the Senate President.

President Muhammadu Buhari has come up with the first key appointment in his cabinet, amid speculation surrounding his ministerial list. According to Premium Times, Buhari broke the news about who would head the ministry of petroleum on Tuesday, September 29, in New York in the course of the Global Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism. It should be recalled that shortly after the May 29 inauguration indications emerged that Buhari was set to appoint himself at the petroleum minister as “nobody’s hands are clean enough to do the surgical changes needed”, which was said by one of the president’s associates. Students of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Akoka, this morning shut the university’s two exit gates, to protest what they described as the invasion of bedbugs and mosquitoes in their hostels. 105 year old Japanese runner, Hidekichi Miyazaki, also called Golden Bolt, has broken the world record and set a new one as the oldest runner alive just a day after celebrating his 105th birthday on Wednesday. He finished his race lap in a time of 42.22 seconds, although his personal best still remains 34.10 seconds which he achieved 2 years ago at 103 years old and that remains a world record. While imitating the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, Miyazaki says he would love a chance to compete with him. I will say this: I’m proud of my health. My brain might not be the sharpest but physically I’m tip-top. I’ve never had any health problems. The doctors are amazed by me. I can definitely keep on running for another two or three years. He took to running in his 90s after his buddies he used to play board games with started passing on. His quest for a sport he could do alone led him to sprinting.

President Muhammadu Buhari was pictured today, September 24, 2015, slaughtering a ram in commemoration of the Eid-el-Kabir festival. Buhari observed prayers in his hometown of Daura in Katsina state. The president had, in his Eid message to Nigerians on Wednesday, September 23, assured citizens of their safety and promised that the insurgency unleashed by Boko Haram would soon be brought to an end.

A team of policemen led by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase has rescued the former Secretary to the Government of Federation, Chief Olu Falae from his abductors. Falae, was kidnapped on Monday afternoon at his farm in Akure North local government area of Ondo State by suspected herdsmen. Arase, who arrived the state Thursday morning, immediately took over the rescue team and led the security operatives to the Afenifere Chieftain’s farm. Falae was later set free from the kidnappers’ den without paying any ransom.

A former Governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, has emerged candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state governorship election slated for Nov. 21. Mr. Audu is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, of misappropriating N11 billion of the state’s funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2003. At the trial of the corruption case on March 4, the EFCC also accused Mr. Audu of ordering one of his aides to assault Haruna Ashade, an EFCC operative, for daring to take his photograph in court However, on Sunday Mr. Audu emerged winner of the APC governorship primary which was held in Lokoja between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. He polled 1, 109 votes to beat his closest rival, Yahaya Bello, who scored 703 votes. A former Senator, Nurudeen Abatemi, scored 400 votes to place third . Nurse tried to save drowned man on public beach in Dalian, China. She wore her wedding dress while performing CPR for 20 minutes.   Unfortunately the man, who had a heart attack, died despite rescue.Guo Yuanyuan, 25, was shooting her wedding photos on a beach in Dalian, north east China, when she heard a man had drowned, reported People’s Daily Online. Witnesses say that they spotted a man, who remains unidentified, in the sea who was waving and shouting for help around 10am on September 21.
